Armstrong Pumps in Edmonton — HVAC Pump Supply, Rebuilds and Service
Alberta Rewind & Pump Services supplies Armstrong Fluid Technology pumps and parts from Edmonton and rebuilds the Armstrong pumps already running in Alberta mechanical rooms: 4030 base-mounted end suction, 4280 motor-mounted end suction, 4380 vertical in-line, 4600 horizontal split case, Compass and Astro circulators, and Design Envelope variable-speed pumps. Family-owned since 1976, four Alberta locations, 24-hour emergency service at 780-468-7175.
Armstrong pumps we supply
Armstrong is Canadian — founded in 1934 and headquartered, with manufacturing, in Toronto — and its 4030, 4380 and 4280 are the pumps most Alberta hydronic systems were specified around. We supply the current lines, the seal kits and the coupler sleeves.
4030 base-mounted end suction — 0.33 to 300 hp, flows to 5,000 US gpm, the workhorse of chilled and hot-water loops.
4280 motor-mounted end suction and 4380 vertical in-line (0.33 to 60 hp) for space-saving installations.
4600 horizontal split case from 1.5 to 500 hp for central plants and district energy.
Design Envelope 4300 vertical in-line, 4280 end suction and Tango dual pumps — integrated variable-speed controls and permanent-magnet motors that Armstrong rates at up to 75% energy savings over constant speed.
Compass R and Compass H circulators and the Astro series for residential and small-commercial heating loops.
Fire pumps, heat exchangers and packaged systems on request.
Who buys Armstrong from Alberta Rewind
Hi-rise and commercial building operators with 4030s on the heating and cooling headers. Hospital and school facilities staff who cannot lose a loop in January. Mechanical contractors replacing a 4380 that has run since the building opened. Golf courses and light-industrial plants pumping glycol or process water. They call a motor and pump shop because we rebuild the pump end, rewind the motor and align the assembly rather than just selling the box.
Armstrong pump repair in Edmonton
We rebuild Armstrong pumps in our Edmonton shop and on site: mechanical seal replacement, bearing-frame rebuilds on base-mounted 4030s, impeller replacement or trim to the duty point, coupling replacement and laser alignment, shaft repair in our machine shop, and motor rewinds when the motor has failed. Rebuilt pumps are balanced and tested before they go back into the mechanical room.
Small circulators are usually a replacement rather than a rebuild, and we will tell you when that is the cheaper answer. If an Armstrong pump is still inside its warranty period, call us before it is opened and we will confirm whether a claim applies and how it is routed.
Retrofitting variable speed with Design Envelope
A constant-speed 4030 throttled by a balancing valve is paying for flow the building does not use. Armstrong's Design Envelope pumps put the drive and the sensorless control on the pump, so a retrofit is a pump swap and a power connection rather than a controls project. We size the replacement to the system's real flow and head — not the original nameplate — and handle the alignment and commissioning.
Field service for Armstrong installations
Our service vehicles cover all of Western Canada and the Northwest Territories: on-site seal changes, laser alignment on base-mounted pumps, vibration analysis and trending, installation and removal, and preventative maintenance programs for heating and cooling plants.
Armstrong questions we get asked.
Should I rebuild or replace an Armstrong 4030?
Rebuild, in most cases. A 4030 with a worn seal, bearing frame or impeller is restored to its original duty point for well under the cost of a new pump, and the casing rarely wears out. We recommend replacement when the pump is badly oversized for the load — where a Design Envelope unit pays back on energy — or when the casing is corroded through.
Do you stock Armstrong seal kits in Edmonton?
Yes. Seal kits and coupler sleeves for the common 4030, 4380 and 4280 sizes are stocked at our Edmonton parts counter.
Can you retrofit variable speed to my existing Armstrong pump?
Yes. Either with a Design Envelope replacement pump that carries its own integrated drive, or by pairing your existing pump with a variable frequency drive from our VFD line. We will tell you which is the better investment for the loop in question.
