Baldor Motors in Edmonton — Baldor-Reliance Sales, Service and Rewinds

Alberta Rewind & Pump Services supplies Baldor-Reliance motors from Edmonton and repairs, rewinds and tests them in a 15,000 square foot shop built for exactly that work: general purpose and Super-E premium-efficient motors, severe duty, explosion-proof, farm duty, washdown, close-coupled pump motors and DC motors, plus Baldor drives and gear reducers. Family-owned since 1976, four Alberta locations, 24-hour emergency service at 780-468-7175.

Baldor-Reliance Motors We Supply

We supply the full Baldor-Reliance NEMA range in the frames and voltages Alberta plants actually run, including 575 V. Common ratings can be supplied quickly; larger and special-duty motors are quoted with a lead time.

  • General purpose three-phase motors to 400 HP, and Super-E premium-efficient motors (NEMA Premium, three-year manufacturer warranty).

  • SP4 general purpose and severe duty — ABB's NEMA Super Premium line, with a 48-month warranty.

  • Severe duty cast-iron motors, IP55 or better, rated for inverter duty under NEMA MG1 Part 31.

  • Explosion-proof (XP) motors from 1/4 to 60 HP, UL and CSA listed for Class I Division 1 hazardous locations.

  • Farm duty, washdown and JM/JP close-coupled pump motors, brake motors, and DC motors from fractional permanent-magnet units to 500 HP shunt-wound.

  • Baldor drives and gearboxes — see our VFD and soft starts and gear boxes pages.

Baldor is now ABB Baldor-Reliance — what changes for you

Nothing on your nameplate stops being supported. ABB bought Baldor in 2011, retired the Baldor Electric company name in 2018, and in September 2025 announced the brand will be written "ABB Baldor-Reliance" going forward. The NEMA frames, catalogue numbers and performance are the same motors, and we can cross-reference an old Baldor catalogue number to the current ABB part number.

Who buys Baldor from Alberta Rewind

Agriculture buys farm duty motors for augers, aeration fans and grain handling through our Lloydminster and Provost branches. Oil and gas buys explosion-proof and severe duty motors for pump jacks, compressors and process equipment. Municipal water plants buy pump motors and vertical units. Commercial and HVAC contractors buy general purpose and Super-E motors for fans, pumps and air handlers. All of them buy from us because the motor, the drive and the repair come from one shop.

Baldor motor repair and rewind in Edmonton

We rewind and rebuild Baldor-Reliance motors of every size the shop can lift — and with a 22,000 lb overhead crane, a temperature-controlled burn-out oven and a VPI dip tank, that covers motors. Repairs are CSA-approved and include stator rewinds, bearing replacement, dynamic balancing and full electrical testing before the motor goes back.

We are honest about the economics. A general purpose motor under about 5 HP is usually cheaper to replace with a new Super-E than to rewind; severe duty, explosion-proof and larger motors are usually worth repairing. If the motor is still inside ABB's warranty period, call us first — we will confirm whether a warranty claim applies before any work starts.

Replacing or upgrading a Baldor motor

Bring us any nameplate — Baldor, Reliance or a competitor's — and we will match it to a current Baldor-Reliance motor on frame, mounting, enclosure, voltage and service factor. Where a motor runs long hours, stepping from a standard-efficiency unit to Super-E or SP4 pays back on the power bill, and pairing the motor with a Baldor or ABB drive lets you run pumps and fans at the speed the process needs rather than throttling them.

Field service for Baldor-driven equipment

Our service vehicles cover all of Western Canada and the Northwest Territories: installation and removal, laser alignment, vibration analysis, winding analysis and preventative maintenance programs for the pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors your Baldor motors drive.

Baldor questions we get asked.

Do you stock Baldor motors in Edmonton?

We supply Baldor-Reliance motors from Edmonton and our three Alberta branches.

Is Baldor the same as ABB?

Yes. Baldor Electric became part of ABB in 2011 and the motors are now branded Baldor-Reliance, moving to ABB Baldor-Reliance from 2025. Existing Baldor motors are still supported, and current ABB motors are direct replacements on the same NEMA frames.

Can you repair a Baldor motor that is still under warranty?

Call us before the motor is opened. We will check the warranty status and tell you whether the repair should go through ABB's warranty process or through our shop.
